This DVD contains six demonstrations culled from the first six issues of MovieFX Magazine. The various effects techniques demonstrated range from sculpting to the application of facial prosthetics.

Lessons include:
Maquette: Before special effects artists build a full size monster, they usually create a smaller version called a maquette for the studio to approve. Jordu Schell, creature designer on movies like X-Files, Men in Black and Starship Troopers gives you a lesson on sculpting a maquette.

Headcasting: Anyone familiar with makeup and prosthetics knows the key to it is having a headcast of your actor. Veteran Effects artist, Kevin Yagher hosts this lesson on lifecasting using his most recent work on Mission Impossible 2 as an example. Then Mark Villalobos and Joe Castro of State of the Art Effects demonstrate the procedure step by step.

Latex Appliance: We're tired of people showing up at Halloween parties with poorly applied vampire makeup. So the good folks at Makeup Designory decided to show you how it's done...THE RIGHT WAY! This segment demonstrates the application of an off the shelf vampire latex prosthetic, as seen in a couple of popular TV shows.

Creature Bust: Hollywood creature designer Jordu Schell is back to show us how to sculpt a 1:1 scale monster bust, as seen on the front cover.

Half Mask: Jordu Schell appears again to show you how to sculpt, mold, cast and airbrush a half mask!

Fangs: Effects artist Michael Pack shows us how to make dental appliances in this lesson. He demonstrates the techniques he uses for making custom made fangs for various TV shows and films.
